Micro-Suctioning
Removal of the cerumen/wax by a qualified professional using a micro-suction device which has a vacuum suction probe to break up and extract wax. A safe alternative for ear syringing.
Irrigation / Syringing
The use of an ear syringe by a qualified professional to gently squirt warm saline water into the ear canal to flush out loose ear wax.
Cerumenolytics
Wax softener drops that you can purchase from your local chemist can help soften the ear wax when used 2-3 days prior to wax removal. It is important to check with your GP if it is okay to use drops.
Mechanical
Removal of the wax manually by using forceps, curette or a hook
Combination
of all these methods
